Palaistra
Press
Palaistra is a coach in your pocket — it watches your tennis or your lifts and talks to you like a $100-an-hour pro, for the price of a can of balls.
The facts
| What it is | An iOS app: prop your phone at the court or squat rack, on-device computer vision tracks 33 body landmarks, and an AI voice coach talks to you about what it sees — live, while you play. |
| Launched | June 16, 2026, on the App Store |
| Sports at launch | Tennis · Weightlifting (squat, deadlift). More on the roadmap. |
| Pricing | Free taste of the live coach for everyone. Subscriptions from $14.99 to $84.99/month, each with a 7-day free trial. |
| The team | One person — Milo Ferenczi, founder and engineer. Built in about a year. |
| Technology | On-device pose estimation (video never has to leave the phone for live coaching) · multimodal visual AI for film review · realtime voice AI with cross-session memory. The coach only asserts what it actually measured — occluded joints get an honest "I couldn't see that," not invented critique. |
| Privacy | Pose tracking runs on device. Video stays on the phone unless the athlete shares it. No tracking, no ads, no data sales. |
Story angles
The blind lesson.
A 30-year teaching pro and the AI analyze the same three strokes, on camera, side by side. He catches things it misses — and the other way around. Footage available on request.
The $100-an-hour question.
The founder's open letter — "We're coming for the $100-an-hour lesson" — argues the enemy is the price wall, not coaches, and backs it with free Elite accounts for certified teaching pros. Coaches are split. That's the story.
Free AI coaching, on a public court, on a Saturday.
Through the Wimbledon fortnight, the founder is setting up at public courts with a sign that says "FREE AI COACHING TODAY." Strangers' on-camera reactions available as b-roll, with releases.

Boilerplate
Palaistra is an AI sports coach for iPhone. The camera watches an athlete's body with on-device pose estimation; a realtime voice AI coaches them out loud while they play, remembers every session, and builds a training plan that evolves. It launched June 16, 2026 with tennis and weightlifting, built by solo founder Milo Ferenczi. Palaistra — Greek παλαίστρα — is the wrestling school where Greek athletes trained body and mind. palaistra.ai
